Dr. Kumar has 20+ years of experience in inventing and developing advanced modelling and predictive simulations technologies with a focus on High Performance Computing (HPC) computational fluid dynamics software (CFD). He (2014-present: Associate Professor "tenured", 2008-14: Assistant Professor) has graduated many students (both PhD and MS level), supported by federally funded projects (mostly Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defenses (DOD)). He did his postdoctoral research at Princeton University (2007-08, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory) and Rice University (2005-07, Physics and Astronomy, Space plasma simulations). He received his Bachelor’s degree from IIT-Kanpur (Aerospace Engineering, 1997) followed by Application Engineer (1997-99, Fluent India, now owned by ANSYS Inc.) & PhD studies at Rice University (Mechanical Engineering, 2005). Dr. Kumar brings extensive research and management experience in research and academic duties including many years of experiences at Sandia, and other DOE and DOD National Labs as visiting professor and sabbatical. He has made significant contributions in advanced M&S through extensive scholarly publications (peer-reviewed journal and conference proceedings, reports, book chapters, patents, etc.), software development, and grant acquisitions.
